et... la fève!!

Posted by: Ana Rincon

Picture

Elle se cache à l'intérieur de la galette. On doit faire attention en mangeant de ne pas croquer la fève (on pourrait se casser une dent!). Celui qui la trouve devient le roi et doit porter la couronne. Ensuite, il choisit une reine.

In New Year's Day children with "sorcova".

Posted by: Tamara Felicia Murgui

Picture

This is a small branch or stick adorned with differently coloured artificial flowers, called sorcova with which they touch rhythmically and lightly their elders, while congratulating them on the occasion and wishing them a long life and a Happy New Year: Sorcova, the merry sorcova/Long may you live/Long may you flourish/ Like apple trees/ Like pear trees/ In midsummer/ Like the rich autumn/ Overflowing with abundance/ Hard as steel/ Fast as an arrow/ For many years to come/ Happy New Year!

Interesting tradition with onion

Posted by: Tamara Felicia Murgui

Picture

Romanians do this in 31 December in evening. Cut an onion in half. Put in order 12 onion leaf - one for every month. In every onion leaf put one tea spoon of salt. In the morning you will see exactly how many rainfall will be in every month of the year.  In the month without rainfall the salt remain like you put there, but in the month with rain or snow the salt is molten. It's a secure method to find this.
