Why you shouldn’t start smoking

Dutch students made the first crossword puzzle to test the knowledge of consequences of smoking on health.

From te results of the questionnaire about smoking it seems that more Dutch student smoke (21% of the students that filled in the questionnaire), that many of them smoke more than a package of cigarettes a day and that they have started at an earlier age than the Italian students.

All the Dutch and Italian students know very well that smoking is bad for health, but the stress and pressure of peers seem to have a lot of influence on their smoking behaviour.

We also share simple experiments on the consequences of smoking.

It is very interesting to compare results with peers from other countries and this gives students the chance to reflect more about smoking and its consequences.

Most of the students (both Dutch and Italian) say they get  information about health consequences on smoking from their teachers.
