WELCOME TO BULGARIA

  
The National Anthem of Bulgaria 
since 1964 has been "Mila Rodino" ( Dear Motherland ). 
The song was written by Tsvetan Radoslavov in 1885.
He was one of the 13 000 volunteers fighting
in the Serbo-Bulgarian War (1885).
On his way to Bulgaria, on the board of the steamship he
 wrote the lyrics and composed the music.
Area : 110 993.6 square kilometers Population: 7.973.673
Capital : Sofia 
Currency : Bulgarian Lev 
State Government : A parliamentary republic with
 one-chamber Parliament (National Assembly)
of 240 members for a four-year-term
Head of state : President elected for a

    The white colour symbolizes patriotism and
Lord's protection for the Bulgarian people obtained by

entreaties of all the Bulgarian saints.
The green colour symbolizes freedom
and the green fields and mountains of our Motherland.
The red colour is a symbol of the blood shed
for the Liberation of Bulgaria.
It is also a bidding for the contemporary people
to be ready always to protect the independence of Bulgaria.

  Near the town of Shipka is the

 Temple-Monument built in the

 memory of all the soldiers who

died for the Liberation of
